Payroll Billing Assistant

Salary $45,000 to $55,000 - Negotiable with the CEO

Corporate Headquarters - Kansas City Northland- 169 & Barry Road

WORK SCHEDULE
Daytime Business Hours M-F
*In the future, we might have some ideas about a more flex schedule. But no promises and for now, it is essentially M-F 830A to 5pm in office

Cascade Health Services is a healthcare staffing agency that has been staffing top-notch facilities with exceptional staff since 1988! We have a very successful PRN Healthcare Staffing Operation in Kansas & Missouri and have recently expanded into the Colorado area. We are one of the top 3 healthcare staffing agencies in the bistate area (if not the largest and most longstanding successful agency). Florida is currently being onboarded with many other states on the horizon. Aside from our PRN business, we have always consistently placed Nursing Staff in travel or local "contracts" in the Midwest and have been able to keep many employees on assignments back-to-back for years.

We currently employ around 1500 healthcare staff and 80 office staff.

SUMMARY POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position is for someone who enjoys puzzles! We do not have all of the bells and whistles in place at this moment because we are having a team of software developers work on customized software. We utilize software that was made for healthcare staffing and has portals for the staffing piece, HR and bill/pay rate management. It is good; but it is aging and could be better. There are many aspects of the payroll and billing that require actual thought and analyzing skills. We utilize BambooHR for our personnel data and files (and storing items like direct deposit data). We utilize our in house program to calculate weekly payroll totals. We utilize ADP for paying our employees. We employ healthcare staff that travel to work for our clients and some of them have to be paid PerDiem or various other expenses like mileage and other reimbursements. Some of those pieces ad parts require manual calculations, manipulations or prorations based upon hours worked each week. Enough about the payroll portion; but the long and short is that each individual in the payroll/billing department currently kicks in to assist with the payroll each week regardless of other specialties.

The payroll and billing does not take 40 hours a week, so each person in the department has another side specialty or projects! Things such as ordering and supplies, A/R, helping with A/P, etc.

Requirements

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Strong experience in payroll processing

#1 Strength above all else would be an individual who just has a whole lot of common sense and smarts! :-) -- Most people can figure it out but our payroll is complicated and multi faceted
Impeccable organization and follow up skills are a must!
Outstanding communication, creativity, critical thinking skills
Experience Desired: expense payments, travel pay, ADP, QuickBooks, HRIS programs, technology and internet savvy, Word and Excel, Per-Diem payments
A real go getter. Someone who makes this position their own, takes pride in improving processes, wants to grow with this business (because trust me; we are GROWING!)
Can you overcome little challenges? There are some challenges to overcome due to older technology currently in place, systems that need cleaned up and improved etc. It is however your chance to shine in a company that seeks new leadership as we grow.
A very, very analytical thinker; yet someone who has a fun, teamwork oriented personality
Bonus points if your experience is with a temporary staffing agency OR healthcare business
Bonus points if you have good experience with Benefits Management or Workers Compensation Management (as these could be some areas we could utilize some assistance with and could make your position more valuable $$$)
