About This Job
The primary responsibility of this position will be to process letter of credit transactions in compliance with regulatory requirements and Bank policy. This person must provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers as well as participation in special projects as assigned.
Essential Functions
Learning and becoming a subject matter expert on the regulations and rules which govern all letters of credit, contained in the most recent publications of:
"Uniform Customs and Practices for Documentary Letters of Credit-Publication 600 "
"International Standard Banking Practices for Examination of Documentary Credits "
"International Standby Practices ISP98 "
"ICC Uniform Rules of Collections 522 "
"International Chamber of Commerce Incoterms 2020"
Conducting peer training
Assisting peers when volumes require it
Examining document language to ensure compliance with letter of credit requirements
Communicating potential issues to corporate customers, correspondent banks (both domestic and foreign), freight forwarders, and Commerce Bank personnel
Relaying discrepancies to customers and adhering to bank regulated timelines
Meeting department quality, productivity, and timeliness measures
Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Demonstrating exceptional customer service and communication skills and an ability to partner across business lines to meet customer and Bank needs
Being a motivated, self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Displaying an ability to learn, understand, and apply regulatory requirements
Examining documents to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce risk to the Bank
Meeting CLS Letter of Credit quality, productivity, and timeliness measures
Being adaptable and resilient in all situations, displaying a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and core values
Meeting the requirements of a fast-paced deadline driven environment
Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required
4-year degree in business or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
1-2+ years documentation experience required
Letter of Credit and International Banking experience; Knowledge of Trade Innovations preferred
