Job Description

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) invites applications for two full-time tenure/tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Biological Sciences. We encourage applications from individuals whose research addresses fundamental biological questions in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, systems biology, synthetic biology, molecular evolution, and bioinformatics. The primary attributes we seek in candidates are (1) demonstrated excellence in research, as the faculty member would be expected to initiate or continue an independent, extramurally funded research program, and (2) potential or demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring.

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences grants degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. MS and PhD degrees are granted in Cell Biology & Biophysics or Molecular Biology & Biochemistry. The Division of Biological Sciences supports research in many areas including biochemistry, structural biology, cell biology, developmental biology, and neurobiology. Along with the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Dentistry, and the School of Nursing and Health Studies, the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences participates in the "Life and health sciences" area of emphasis in the mission of the campus.
Job Requirements

Applicants must possess a PhD, MD, or DVM and at least two years of postdoctoral experience.
