Transport Driver

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director of Facility and Support Services and the Transport Supervisor, the Transport Driver's primary responsibility is to provide outpatients in our service area with transportation services to and from their personal residences or other health care facilities to Phelps Health or a Phelps Helth affiliate for treatment or diagnostic procedures. In addition, the Transport Driver will provide courier services between Phelps Health and all clinics within the Phelps Health.

The Transport Driver will notify the Administrative Director of Facility and Support Services of problems or issues related to the transporting of patients or equipment and vehicle failure.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One year experience in a service-related field, preferably in health care. Public or health care transportation experience preferred. Must have knowledge of local streets and highways.

Licensure, Registration, Certification: CPR Certified and carry a current Missouri Chauffeurs License (Class E).

Mental/Physical Requirements: Mental ability required to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift 150-250 pounds. Ability to learn and understand policies and procedures related to transportation position and hospital. Good telephone and communication skills.

Working Conditions: May experience long periods of standing, walking, or sitting in vehicle. Will come in contact with out-patients. May encounter unpleasant conditions at times during the transportation process.
