We are seeking an Animal Care Technician to join our dynamic team! This position will focus on overall animal care and welfare, production and selection for customer orders, facility upkeep and record keeping and procedural duties. The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment. We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

This job contributes to organizational success by:

• Cares for animals including feeding, cleaning, and minor breeding responsibilities
• Follows protocols to ensure the health and welfare of rodents in care
• Assist with outbound and incoming animal orders
• Adherence to strict quality control, quality assurance principles, and IACUC regulations
• Maintains responsibility for sanitation of the animal housing rooms, cages, and support areas

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to follow SOPs and protocols
• Excellent time management skills and an attention to detail in documentation practices
• Capable of working both independently and in a collaborative team setting

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• Desire to work with and care for animals on a daily basis
• Continuous effort toward contributing to a clean and safe working environment
• Ability and willingness to complete paperwork as needed
• Must be available to work weekends/holidays on a rotating basis
• Technical skills to include IP injections, etc.
• Animal handling skills to include restraint, determination of sex of animal, animal identification methods, etc.
• Animal husbandry skills to include knowledge of cage types, water systems, etc.
