Job description

The Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee the company's financial and administrative matters. You will be a key part of the Executive Team tasked with driving all financing efforts, executing our financial strategy, and working directly with the Board of Directors. You will lead our fund-raising and operational initiatives that are critical to the Company's success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • As a business partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, the CFO will assess organizational performance against both the prior year results, the annual budget, and the company's long-term strategy
  • Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
  • Oversees long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the company's strategic plans
  • Advise the CEO on business development and strategic planning
  • Reviews and approves board packages, quarterly and annual shareholder reports
  • Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures for the company
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities, develop risk management plan
  • Ensures GAAP, legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
  • Represents the company to business partners, analysts, investors, including financial institutions and auditors
  • Develop processes for effective management of working capital
  • Managing all short and long-term strategic financial objectives of the company, supporting the executive team with vital financial information and operational analytics, and driving a culture of accountability in managing the business.
  • Assist the CEO in the successful growth of the organization, including capital raising strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant financial discipline, MBA/CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of corporate life science or biotechnology experience in roles of increasing responsibility within finance and business functions
  • IPO/S-1, M&A or start-up exit experience within biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated and significant experience in biotechnology fundraising efforts
  • Analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
  • Understands the demands of a high growth company, flexible and can thrive with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting required
  • Thorough knowledge of financial laws and regulations
