Role Value Proposition:
The Senior Actuary plays a critical role in coordinating operations and deliverables for the US Actuarial and Global ALM teams. Deliverables include reserve valuations, budget projections, Embedded Value and regulatory filings.
The position provides exposure to a wide range of actuarial activities, and interfaces with key internal and external stakeholders, including the US Lead Actuaries, the asset liability modeling heads, the CFO organization and multiple state regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide oversight of core reporting deliverables and data initiatives within US region, including facilitating discussions, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion. This includes:
* Managing and prioritizing communications from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial close-related actuarial work for US region
* Organizing meetings, facilitating discussions, and preparing materials for consumption by internal and external stakeholders for the Americas annual assumption review process
* Preparing board presentations and pre-read materials for key Board presentations (Participating Business Dividend Scales, Appointed Actuary Reports, Assumption Updates, Principles Based Reserves)
* Aggregating, reviewing, and distributing monthly Americas actuarial reserve and related one-time items report and following up on open issues
* Striving for efficiency in managing communication between actuarial teams and audit/governance departments regarding actuarial matters
* Consolidating and maintaining control documentation (e.g. SOX compliance) for US region
* Managing ad-hoc requests across all US segments
* Coordinate Reg 33 (allocation of investment income) filing between MetLife and NY Department of Financial Services
* Actuarial Governance & Controls Steering Committee
* Assist US Chief Actuary and Global ALM head by managing coordination of other activities across the US Actuarial and Global ALM teams
* Coordinate staff meeting agendas
* Work with Lead Actuaries and ALM heads to establish BAU/HR and IT budgets and coordinate budget discussions with key stakeholders
* Coordinate ongoing management of new positions, open positions and other HR initiatives
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
* Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred
