Position Summary
As a Senior Chemist at Nestle Purina PetCare, you will design, execute, and interpret complex procedures and protocols within a project or goal. You will be a great fit if you are a self-starter who takes initiative and works independently while collaborating within Nestle Purina Analytics Laboratories (NPAL). You will be expected to do research, execute method development, make process improvements and draft SOP's in addition to mentoring other team members. You will accurately record and review laboratory documentation generated from developmental as well as established procedures and suggest, plan, and execute alterations to procedures and protocols based on evaluations of observations and results in concert with leadership.
• Independently or operating in a lead capacity, develop and validate analytical methods in support of projects, and assure project timelines are met
• Design experiments when requested and handle major portion of project activity with little supervision.
• Perform analytical equipment validation, and ensure routine calibration and preventive maintenance is performed at the required intervals
• Participate in moderate to extensive problem solving which requires original thought. Prepare reports with interpretation, and interpret the results of complex experiments. Troubleshoot assay and instrumentation issues as necessary
• Demonstrate ability as a reliable and contributing team member. Readily adapts to fluctuations and changing priorities. Is self-motivated to establish good working relationships with colleagues
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or closely related field, plus 10 years of experience or
• Masters plus 7 years of experience, or
• PhD plus 5 years of experience
• 2 years of Empower experience
• Analytical Chemistry experience
• Analytical instrumentation experience such as HPLC, GC, GCMS, LCMS is required
