Data Scientist - Upstream R&D Cell Culture

Your Role

Become part of a highly skilled team of experts working to develop innovative cell culture products. Your role will be to generate scalable use cases and data products that translate functional requirements into data models and processes to drive the development of our products and solutions. Join us as a Data Scientist within the Upstream R&D Cell Culture team.
As a member of our Upstream R&D Cell Culture analytics team, you plan and lead the development of data analytic techniques, methodologies, and solutions from design to implementation, prototyping & testing. By applying statistical & machine learning methods hidden patterns & information from data are discovered, to be used for decision making. Use machine learning algorithms, libraries, and tools to build models. Apply statistical learning models and know how to transfer a business problem to a solution with applied data science. You will need to apply data analysis, data mining, and data processing to present data clearly.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and creative individual, part of an active, multidisciplinary group of scientists responsible for the design and development of cell culture products for the Biopharmaceutical Industry.
Key Accountabilities
• Manipulates and analyzes complex, high-volume, high-dimensional data using data analysis techniques
• Uses machine learning algorithms, libraries, and tools to build machine learning and statistical models
• Applies statistical learning models and knows how to transfer a business problem to a solution with applied data science
• Applies data analysis, data mining, and data processing to present data clearly
• Proposes improvements for data connectability and liaises with Data Engineers
• Helps to build overall awareness of analytical capabilities within the company

Who You Are/Key Experiences:
• B.S. degree in Bioinformatics/Data Science/Statistics/Math, or closely related sciences
• 2+ years of relevant experience in science related industry or academia.
• B.Sc. (or higher) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, or related field
• Familiarity with modern analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, R, Python, SQL)
• Understanding of statistics (hypothesis testing, regressions, etc.)
• Experience in querying and manipulating raw datasets for analysis
• Knowledge and experience in data modeling, data mining, statistical analysis, and predictive analytics
• Ability to understand and communicate complex ideas effectively to technical and non-technical audiences

Tech Skills:

• Statistical analysis (multivariate analysis, design of experiment), e.g., PLS, PCA, DoE
• Python Tableau JMP, JMP Pro, Alteryx, Minitab
• Data Scientist: Math skills (statistics, optimization, linear algebra, numerics)
• Prototype to test models
• Understanding of business domain
• Feature engineering
