Job description
BioScience Laboratories was founded in Bozeman, Montana in 1991 by Dr. Daryl Paulson. The author of numerous texts and papers on the subject of antimicrobial testing, Dr. Paulson is known for pioneering the use of statistics in the design, execution, and analysis of efficacy and safety studies. With a commitment to scientific excellence and customer satisfaction, Dr. Paulson has led BioScience Laboratories through several stages of growth while keeping the company firmly planted in the community of Bozeman, where he and his staff enjoy the high quality of life filled with beautiful scenery and nearby outdoor adventures.
Planning for the next twenty years of continued commitment to the antimicrobial testing industry, their clients, and their employees, the company owners, Dr. Paulson and Marsha D. Brown MBA, built a 15,558 square foot laboratory building and a 6,400 square foot administrative building in Bozeman near the campus of Montana State University.
On March 8, 2021, BioScience Laboratories was acquired by Nelson Labs' parent company Sotera Health. Nelson Labs, a Sotera Health company , is an industry-leading, global provider of laboratory testing and expert advisory services. They perform over 800 rigorous microbiological and analytical laboratory tests across the medical device , pharmaceutical , protective barriers , and tissue industries. They know that every test matters and requires solutions to complex problems to improve patient outcomes and minimize client risk.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee accessioning of all Sponsor products received for testing at the Bozeman facility, including the return or disposal of such products per Sponsor's direction.
- Responsible for the security of the Product Quarantine rooms.
- Communicate with Sponsor regarding timing and tracking of incoming products, testing dates, and shipping requirements, etc.
- Administer the creation, reproduction, security, maintenance, and use of all Sponsor product records.
- Develop or improve current records formats and storage methods as necessary.
- Communicate with Sponsors regarding product management needs.
- Work with Quality Assurance (QA) as necessary to ensure that all records relating to Sponsor's products are complete, accurate and up to date.
- Make recommendations to management for improvements to the overall Product Handling system.
- Work with SDs and PIs or their assignees as Sponsor's test products are checked in and/or out of Product Quarantine for study testing or returned upon completion of testing.
- Perform other duties, as assigned, that relate to the assurance of high quality performance at BSLI, and/or as agreed with the department manager.
In addition to the above, Employee will be expected to conduct him/herself in a manner acceptable in a professional business environment, and to adhere to the policies and procedures established in the Company's Employee Policy Manual, its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or other policies and procedures that the Company may adopt.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job skills and previous experience required for this position include excellent computer skills, organization and planning skills, inventory management, and outstanding communication skills within the laboratory as well as with Sponsors. He or she must understand principles of planning and organization and have general understanding of the industry in which the Company competes, and a thorough understanding of the Company, including its procedures, policies, objectives, history, organization, and environment. He or she must have the ability and willingness to communicate with other personnel, to understand various functional problems related to performance of the work assigned, and to assume personal responsibility, as appropriate, for successful completion of assignments.
SCOPE AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
The Product Handler receives varying degrees of direct supervision, depending on the job, but personal initiative is imperative.
