  • Purpose of Job
    • Responsible for financial reporting to meet management needs, and external and governmental requirements for the Health System, and assigned affiliate entities within the Health System.

    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
      • or
      • Bachelor's degree in accounting must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
    • Experience
      • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting or related field required.
      • Knowledge and understanding of not-for-profit accounting, including experience with grants and contracts preferred.
      • Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system preferred.
      • Software experience with Lawson preferred.

  • Essential Job Functions
    • Essential Functions I
      • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, current accounting and healthcare industry guidance, and Health System policies for assigned entities.
      • Perform analysis of monthly financial statements, including explanation of significant variances, review of all judgmental areas, and necessary accruals for proper presentation of operating results, and detailed analysis of specific line items for assigned entities.
      • Perform accounting functions across the Health System for assigned areas of responsibility.
      • Utilize financial systems, and follow processes for recording transactions for assigned entities.
        • Provide recommendations to enhance the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial information, processes, and internal controls.
      • Work collaboratively with members of the Finance team.
      • Provide excellent customer service in response to inquiries from other departments within the Health System, as well as external parties.
      • Prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts.
      • Perform financial analysis of business transactions, and clinical programs as assigned.
      • Assist with the development of assumptions, overall preparation, and analysis of the annual operating budgets for assigned entities.
        • Preparation shall include the accumulation of detail necessary to support main budgetary assumptions, data, and schedules.
      • Keep Accounting Manager informed about financial matters for assigned entities.
      • Participate in departmental meetings, as well as special projects, and represent the Finance Division as assigned.
      • Assist with the year-end audit including involvement with the auditors, preparation of audit schedules, and support.
      • Assist with developing, preparing, and distributing management, and Board reporting packages and presentations.
    • Essential Functions II
      • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
