Business: Boys Town Job Summary: In a career as an Aftercare Specialist, you play a big part in making a difference in changing a youths life. The Aftercare Specialist assists the Manager of Aftercare Services and Support to help youth in making a smooth transition from career/job experiences in high school to independent adult living with competitive employment or post-secondary education. This position will work with School and Youth Care staff to assist with youth understanding and achieving their goals. We strive to give Boys Town Kids the fulfilling lives they deserve. Learn about the Aftercare department and services here: Boys Town Aftercare Services (vimeo.com) Responsibilities: Develops relationships with youth, school staff, Youth Care, institutions that offer trade certifications, community businesses, and outside agencies to achieve effective transition to the world of trades.

  • Implements the Senior Planning Process according to the program description with the goal of providing the education and support necessary for Family Home Program high school seniors to make strong, suitable post-graduation decisions.
  • Implements and maintains the Trade Life Successful Living Program with the goal of providing program youth with education, resources and supports.
  • Provides crisis support for alumni.
  • Teaches the Advanced Life Skills Curriculum.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out the Father Flanagans Boys Home mission.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Human Services or related field or High School diploma.
  • Two years of relevant youth experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Experience in Boys Town Model is preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record, plus the ability to provide own transportation (mileage reimbursement) to complete travel requirements of the job. Must pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
  • This position must be available to provide crisis response and must be available to work non-traditional business hours including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality; communication skills needed to relate effectively to students, Family-Teachers, faculty, administrators, business owner's and their employees.
  • Ability to build sustain successful, professional relationships.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of Boys Town Model.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and role modeling.
  • Ability to assess child behavior problems.
