The Business Segment Product Owner provides product knowledge, customer insight and connects business needs and technology while supporting a strategic vision for Business Segment API product innovation. Oversees the conception, implementation and analysis of complex, high profile projects and partners with senior payments leadership in the creation of the team roadmap, and then manages the prioritization and backlog while acting as the liaison to the customer, technology & business partners. The Business Segment Product Owner possesses an in-depth knowledge of the vision, goals and desired objectives of the initiatives and acts as the first authority for decisions regarding business value and functionality for all the work done by the team. Position uses strategic planning expertise to guide initiatives to maximize the business value delivered by the team. The successful candidate should have prior product owner experience or an understanding of the banking industry, as well a background and experience working with IT. This position will be accountable to quickly identify vulnerabilities and obstacles, and then in partnership with business stakeholders and IT, create innovative solutions.- Leads both strategy and execution on a roadmap for a defined value-stream that aligns to the business segments overall strategy/priorities related to API Innovation. Roadmap includes future enhancements/changes to the product(s) incorporating 12-24 months of prioritized work for a specific application development squad
- Influences senior-management, Portfolio Managers, IT leaders and squad on future value-stream capabilities as well as prioritization of work/projects within the business segment and portfolio
- Responsible for prioritization of the Agile squads work and backlog, including technology lifecycle needs and serves as escalation for dependency and conflict resolution.
- Develops epics and user stories for all new work/functionality maintaining a healthy backlog, and ensures new functionality meets the defined acceptance criteria prior to being moved into a production environment through a formal approval process.
- Regularly, communicates progress to leadership, stakeholders, and interested parties through Release Notes and end-of-sprint product demonstrations that showcase the new features delivered and overall progress against roadmap
- Systems Expertise - accountable for having in-depth knowledge of capabilities within the business segment systems
- Use systems and business knowledge to plan and scope several inter-related initiatives to help senior-level business stakeholders make informed decisions about which initiatives to prioritize and how to prioritize
- As Product Owner, accountable to work within the Agile framework as the business subject matter expert; provides vision for what the business wants to build, is empowered and engaged in Planning & Execution, dedicates significant time working with the Agile deliver team, as a member of the squad, and prioritizes backlog
- Partners with Scrum Master and other Product Owners to manage dependencies and manage risks
- Maintains a deep awareness of how the business operation works, its users, the marketplace, emerging industry trends, and organizational strategy to help key stakeholders explore technology possibilities to most effectively execute on that plan.
- Supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands and organizational shifts.

- Experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests
- Able to develop and maintain meaningful relationships and trust with partners at peer levels and above
- Ability to create and present executive level presentations sharing progress and identifying risks
- Approaches work with a sense of urgency to get work completed timely and accurately
- Applies analytical approach to assess product gaps and make data driven decisions
- Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to successfully work in teams and good conflict resolution skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or 7+ years equivalent related experience
- Product Owner experience required
- Banking industry/knowledge highly desired
- 5+ years of experience with Agile framework and experience working with an IT team required
- Strong Analytical approach
- Strong Project Management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
