CORPORATE CONTROLLER + WEST OMAHA

Our client, an expanding Omaha-based services company, is seeking a hands-on financial leader to serve as its Corporate Controller, working with personnel throughout the company to foster positivity and collaborative dealings with business unit leaders. The ideal candidate will hold responsibility for all facets of the organization's financial management. This person should be a critically thinking individual with ability to implement new processes and procedures to help executive management move the organization's growth plans forward. Strong communication, team development and leadership skills are essential.

The Corporate Controller has oversight of corporate accounting, financial and regulatory reporting, internal management reporting, risk management, budgeting and forecasting, and maintaining the organization's internal control environment. International business exposure is a plus.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight of corporate accounting department, enforcing compliance with internal accounting policies
  • Manage all aspects of timely financial and regulatory reporting, including consolidation of business unit results, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), providing timely and accurate financial statements to executive management
  • Manage internal management reporting processes, including monitoring of key performance indicators, implementing enhancements as needed to avoid deviations from forecasted results
  • Ensure accurate integration of financial results of acquired businesses and making sure the organization's accounting policies are implemented by the acquired entity's accounting team
  • Lead best practices efforts, using benchmarking of measurable metrics against peer companies to help drive improvements
  • Work collaboratively with other business leaders implementing strategies to enhance accuracy of business forecasting and reporting
  • Lead the company's budgeting/forecasting processes, including projecting the financial results of proposed expansion plans
  • Analyze and resolve variances of actual vs. forecasted financial results and operational metrics
  • Lead as a mentor to direct reports related to allocating work, training, evaluating performance, and rewarding excellence, providing an environment supporting development of team
  • Review accounting processes and identify and implement process improvements to drive accuracy and reporting flexibility

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA, CMA and/or MBA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience performing technical accounting research
  • A proven leader with a minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance experience
  • International accounting exposure a plus; knowledge of IFRS not required
  • Experience supervising and developing employees and building a positive team culture
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
