Job Objective:
Responsible as a lead person for processing specialty lines of business such as auto, general liability, garage, and cargo; training staff; and testing applications. Provides input and helps create a central library of documentation for mainframe or personal computer systems used in premium processing entry which includes statistical coding, underwriting, and pricing bulletins and directives. Trains new and existing users for Premium Processing Unit on new or enhanced system applications. Responsible for maintaining data quality captured on the V-4 Mainframe System. Evaluates mainframe output and works with or at the direction of users and systems programmers to achieve the desired results.
Major Duties:
- Receives and reviews daily any identified rating or coding errors and advises the responsible individuals of corrections needed. Answers questions and researches work-related premium entry problems. Assists Processing Technicians with complex policy transactions. Refers non-routine questions and unresolved problems to Supervisor for final decision. Communicates with other departments to research problems to ensure data quality standards are met.
- Assists with writing user level instructions and coding summary for BH Systems and/or PC entry. Assists with maintaining existing entry procedure manuals by providing input and proofreading, updating manuals for BH Systems, Premium Processing, Pre-booking, Agency, and other end users/instructions. Helps to maintain On-line Help System (OHF) by updating information as criteria changes. Interprets manual information and performs follow-up research to answer users questions. Identifies training needs as required, conducts training sessions for individuals or group.
- Researches cancellation disputed items as assigned by Underwriting Services, Underwriters, or General Agents. Reviews V4 premium entry as well as cancellation evidence containing agents' calculations to resolve differences. May consult with Supervisor and/or Underwriting Services Supervisor on more complex issues for timely resolutions. Corresponds with General Agent to advise of all decisions.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive understanding of Company data structures and output requirements (reports, data calls, etc.) for a specific specialty unit of business. May propose edit or field changes as appropriate to BH Systems for modification. Helps ensure mainframe application tables are updated to reflect current conditions or data needs.
- Enters test data and reviews results with end users, mainframe programmers, or PC application programmers assigned to the application. Identifies and documents application problems, provides feedback, and makes recommendations to the V-4 Entry Coordinator II or III to successfully implement the project into the Processing production system for a specialty line of business.
- May ensure the process of correcting VIN reporting errors received from various state DMV is completed accurately and timely. May assist with developing and testing new state VIN reporting systems as required.
- Assists FIS/SRRU in resolving data output problems for a specialty line of business. Maintains various "statistical" plan manuals (NAII, NCCI ISO Texas and South Carolina) required to convert Company data to meet the specific statistical rating bureau requirements.
- Trains new employees in rate verification procedures and policy data entry into the V-4 system and in use of PC applications by Premium Processing Technicians for a specialty line of business. Trains or cross-trains current employees as necessary.
- Completes special entry projects such as quarterly CCD, Special Large Risk, or TPA data. Obtain entry instructions from FIS and work with the Premium Processing Supervisor or Claims Satellite Supervisor to accomplish timely data entry.
- Assists Software Application Administrator with the development of premium processing systems for a specialty line of business. Interprets coding information, testing, proofreading, writing, and maintaining information needed for V4 entry.
- Assists with Independent Statistical Service (ISS) conversion for a specialty line of business. Interprets company codes to ISS, reads and researches bulletins, and advises FIS Unit concerning new codes to be used. Prepares reports for BH System entry/conversion.
- May perform duties 1-8 as shown under the Premium Processing Technician job description as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (*minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job function)
Required Knowledge:
*High school diploma or GED or equivalent and two years of college related courses or equivalent
*Basic insurance terms and coverages
*Rating, statistical coding, data processing concepts
*Basic math
Preferred Knowledge:
Bachelor degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience
1-2 years related work experience
V-4 on-line system
PC application software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and database
