Position Highlights:
Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Histotechnologist (Trainee). This role will be great for someone that has a passion for histological analysis and diagnosis demonstrates great customer service for our internal clients and patients we serve. This specific position will work in the Clarkson Tower on the Main Nebraska Medicine campus in Omaha, NE.
One must be meet the educational criteria listed on the required qualifications. These roles are designed to for those in the MLS, Biology or Chemistry or related programs who desire to be a Histotechnologist for their career path.

Shift:
- Full Time and benefits eligible (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week)
- Monday - Friday; 5:00 am - 1:30 pm and some weekends

This is an entry level position where the incumbent will learn the basic knowledge, i.e. theoretical and practical, in the preparation of biological material for histological analysis/diagnosis. The process involves the preparation of patient tissue or research tissue according to department procedures. Support continuous improvement of laboratory services within the organization to ensure high quality and timely pathology information for a quality diagnosis.
Required Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent required.
- Education and training equivalent to 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either a) 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or b) 24 semester hours of science courses that include i) 6 semester hours of chemistry ii) 6 semester hours of biology iii) 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in laboratory work, preferably histology laboratory preferred.
- Bachelor of science or successful completion of a formally recognized histology technique training program preferred.
