Job description

This position is intended to describe the general nature of the work, not the specific duties. SFM reserves the right to assign additional duties or delete them as required.

This is a responsible supervisory position that involves administering human resources policies programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing. Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Human Resources Department and recommending policies and practices to senior management. Responsible for staff recruitment, retention and terminations with a primary focus on employee relations.

* Is a strategic business partner.
* Develops, directs and coordinates the process of applicant recruiting, testing, screening, interview coordination and candidate notification, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, including the new employee orientation.
* Develops and recommends policies, procedures and programs to meet SFM's needs.
* Coordinates ongoing review of system policies to ensure accuracy and applicability.
* Publishes periodic updates to the Handbook of Personnel Policies and Procedures. Troubleshoots procedural difficulties and employee concerns.
* Assists with preparation and review of independent contractor agreements.
* Provides information and counsel to administration and employees on a wide variety of HRM activities including interpretation and administration of Federal, State and SFM rules, policies and procedures, layoff procedures, salary administration, disciplinary actions, annual evaluations, recruitment and placement, training, worker's compensation and, employee benefits.
* Serves as an Affirmative Action (AA) Officer. Develops and administers SFM's affirmative action, sexual harassment and related policies and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Handles all matters related to the EEOC. Serves a coordinator and consultant for mandated programs such as the ADA and FMLA.
* Assists with updating job descriptions for all positions within the scope of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA), laws and system policy.
* Advocates for employee's needs, issues, concerns and rights. Represents administration's positions and expectations with employees.
* Represents SFM on unemployment and worker's compensation matters and consults on such matters to other locations.
