Purpose of Position

Development of college students who are pursuing a law degree from an accredited law school or interested in pursuing a career in law. Intern will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that will provide an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in school, gain exposure to industry practice, and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is a temporary, non-exempt position.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

Under the direction of senior staff, drafts, interprets and provides analysis related to various legal documents, which may include rights-of-way agreements, construction contracts, compliance reports, audits, and other contracts related to the operation of a major interstate pipeline system; reviews legislative and regulatory activity; supports assigned client group by interpreting regulatory and judicial orders, legislative changes, and regulatory rules and policies; and performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with an interest in pursuing a legal career or Law school student, first or second year standing (second or third year rising as of Spring 2022), currently pursuing a J.D. degree from an accredited law school or university, top 20% preferred

Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to convey complex concepts succinctly and clearly

Strong reasoning and analytical abilities

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to independently conduct research in unfamiliar areas of law and business

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
