Job description

Responsibilities
The Part Time Call Center Clerical role staffs our contact center during non-business hours, taking customer reports of electrical outages and entering that information into our systems to notify our Field Crews. This is a critical function at OPPD and we are seeking professionals with a customer centric focus.

  • The Part Time Call Center Clerical supports the department's responsibilities by responding to customer inquiries and initiating customer care transactions including: payments, payment arrangements, outage reports, and electronic service orders.
  • Assists customers with a friendly and professional approach by telephone, in-person, fax, mail, email and all other channels of communication.
  • Provides customers with information on a variety of topics including: payments, payment plans, outage information, and basic credit and billing inquiries.
  • Initiates a variety of customer service transactions including: payments via phone and in person, pay plans via phone, outage reports, and electronic start, stop, and transfer service requests.
  • Maintains knowledge of the systems that support Customer Care Services and keeps the systems updated with complete and accurate customer billing and contact information.
  • Maintain confidentiality with customer information.
** This position requires schedule flexibility. The first 1-2 weeks, you will train M-F 8am-5pm. After training, you can expect up to 25 hours and sample shifts are listed below for example. Sample Shifts: Overnight: midnight to 7 am, midnight to 8:30 am Evenings: 7:30 pm to 12:30 am, 8 pm to midnight Weekends: 8 am to 1 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm Company Holidays: 24 hour coverage

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of experience working in customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to understand concerns and overcome objections.
  • Professional and friendly attitude and ability to quickly develop rapport with customers.
  • Aptitude for working with computer systems and good keyboarding skills.
Desired:
  • One or more years of experience working in billing.
Time Demands:
  • This position is considered an œessential position meaning when business necessity and continuity needs are emergent, this position will be required to report to work and may be required to work hours beyond an employee's normal shift.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy.
  • Must be available for call-outs as required to ensure continuance of efficient operation.
