Payroll Compliance Team Lead - Job Description

The Payroll Compliance Team Lead will assist the Traveler Payroll Supervisor in leading the Payroll Compliance team. The Payroll Compliance Team Lead will participate in the decision-making process regarding payroll compliance issues and lead the creation of team plans and developments. The Payroll Compliance Team Lead will create, review and update procedures for the Payroll Compliance Team. The Payroll Compliance Team Lead will train new employees and maintain documentation of the Payroll Compliance processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of direct reports
  • Be an example for our people by demonstrating Medical Solutions' Core Values in everything you do
  • Support a positive work environment that fosters team performance through own work and behavior
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Traveler Payroll and the various compliance and audit needs
  • Develop strong working knowledge of UltiPro and be available to help trouble shoot software issues and escalate to UltiPro as needed
  • Help to answer payroll questions regarding tax issues, with knowledge of when to collaborate with our internal tax team
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with Traveler Payroll Team Leads
  • Assist with implementation of new and existing projects
  • Provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers
  • Train new team members and maintain documentation of the Payroll Compliance processes
  • Provide team guidance on new starts, verifications and payroll close processing
  • Ensure garnishment reports are processed timely and correctly
  • Oversee assignment of daily tasks to ensure payroll timelines are met
  • Provide coaching to direct reports through one-on-one meetings, complete and present annual performance reviews
  • Approve direct reports bi-weekly timecards, review time off requests and manage overtime
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of Traveler Payroll experience
  • Associates Degree or equivalent in work experience
  • Experience in multi-state payroll processing
  • Knowledge of payroll and employment tax laws
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to employees and management
    Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments while consistently meeting deadlines
    Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • MS Office experience, including skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
    Team player and ability to work with others within and outside of team
    Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, maintain focus and meet deadlines

Preferences:

  • Previous Payroll experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Paychex and UltiPro HCMS preferred
