Job description

Summary/Objective: The Staff Accountant will manage the daily operations and strategic objectives of the Company's accounts payable cycle. In addition, the general accountant will assist with all accounting/finance functions of the company; inclusive but not limited to: payroll accounting, fixed asset accounting, prepaid expenses, general ledger accounting, general ledger reconciliations, bank account reconciliations, financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform all necessary accounts payable functions including entering bills, paying bills, reporting and research on any and all questions pertaining to outstanding expenses
  • Oversight and development of the company's credit card program. All credit card reporting and monitoring of expenses to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Proper recording and application of all cash not received from a customer (i.e. refunds, returns, etc.).
  • Ensure vendors and accounts are updated / managed in ERP system
  • Monitors banking requirements and performs required bank reporting as directed by the CFO
  • Manages and performs all fixed asset accounting
  • Prepare journal entries as needed
  • Prepare account reconciliations as needed
  • Participate in the monthly financial close process
  • Participate in financial reviews/audits as needed
  • Strict adherence to all internal policies and GAAP requirements
  • Participate in special projects as needed
  • Prompt and regular attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Job Experience, and/or Competencies:

  • At least three years previous relevant experience preferred
  • Associates degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills preferred
  • The ability to develop and communicate goals in support of the business' mission
  • Seeks opportunities to develop experience and knowledge; as well as providing opportunities for employee development and engagement of team members
  • Establishes structures and processes to plan and manage the orderly implementation of procedures and efficient improvements throughout the function
  • Accurately anticipates the implications of events or decisions for various stakeholders in the organization and plans strategy accordingly

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

The employee is regularly required to sit and stand; occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
