The Sales Operations Manager will lead and own all functions related to the creation, management, and improvement of sales incentive and commission plans for a high growth sales organization. In addition, they will be a key partner in supporting the sales organization and leadership with ongoing administration activities and processes, such as territory assignments, customer questionnaires and RFPs, and pipeline forecasting.
Sales Operations is a newly defined team within Appcast, and you will be looked upon to help steward its build-out, beginning with our commission program by coordinating the 'nuts and bolts' of its operations across HR, Finance, Product, and Sales. Future growth of this role would be to help formalize and grow additional components of Sales Operations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage the commission program for our growing sales organization, including creation of plans for new hires, and management of commission plans for existing employees
- Build out the operational components of how commissions are determined on a monthly basis by guiding the process and its activities across HR, Finance, Product, Data, & Sales
- Calculate, validate accuracy of, and submit monthly and/or quarterly commission payments to management within specified deadlines
- Assist Sales and Finance teams in reconciliation of sales credits and commission as required
- Serve as a point of contact for employees, managers, and sales leaders to address questions regarding compensation plans, and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Assist the Sales Leadership with account assignments within the sales team
- Maintain proper documentation of the commissions processes and related control
- Train and mentor team members regarding commission processes and policy changes
- Ensure monthly reports are published on time; manage timely provision of ad-hoc reporting
- Support Sales Leadership with sales administration activities, such as maintaining territory assignments, completing vendor questionnaires during the sales process, quarterbacking new RFP processes, and pipeline forecasting.
- Management of direct reports such as Sales Operation Analysts
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or related fields is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in Sales Operations role within a SaaS and B2B environment
- 2+ years of experience in a sales incentive compensation planning role with direct responsibility of preparing sales compensation plans and calculations
- Experience managing a team is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of Salesforce and Excel required
- Strong analytical background with the ability to creatively solve problems with math and a data-driven approach
- Ability to deal with conflict, and manage expectations
- Self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
