Buyer / Planner
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Buyer/Planner with Locus Robotics will be responsible for all purchasing activities to support our manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will be customer-focused and process-driven. They will have at least three years purchasing or related experience in a manufacturing environment, have ERP proficiency in procurement and planning, demonstrate strong data analytical competence with ERP procurement and planning information, have the ability to work independently and in a remote work environment as required due to current Covid-19 restrictions.
The right candidate will enjoy working in a fast-pasted startup environment, but bring enthusiasm to support implementing standard processes and best practices to help Locus scale for growth.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor demand signals, plan procurement to align with forecast
- Manage Purchase Order scheduling in ERP system to support production needs
- Maintain weekly contact with all key suppliers regarding open orders and delivery status and overall supply chain health
- Maintain accuracy of all Supplier Confirmation Dates and shipment tracking details in ERP
- Support business by anticipating supply chain issues and developing proactive solutions
- Monitor supply chain alerts and escalate possible upcoming challenges
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives, develop & track RFQ's, perform analysis for alternate sources of supply, collaborate with Engineering on first-article evaluation
- Secure improved pricing with suppliers through establishing blanket Purchase Orders and/or contract pricing
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy, support warehouse & production team to resolve inventory/transaction issues
- Act as liaison between supplier and engineering for both NPI and sustaining engineering projects
- Coordinate resolution of supplier issues - quality, delivery & invoicing
- Initiate and execute RMAs, coordinate with Supplier Quality, Accounting, and other representatives through MRB process
- Support insourcing and outsourcing projects, as required
- Monitor market conditions and make suggestions to adjust Supply Chain & Procurement strategies accordingly
- Coordinate with Accounting team to resolve invoicing issues
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred
- 3+ Years relevant Purchasing Experience
- Experience procuring or knowledge of key commodities such as Electro-mechanical components, PCBAs, Motors, Sheet Metal, Plastics, Castings, Extrusions
- ERP & MRP Experience (NetSuite a plus)
- Demonstrated advanced MS Excel skills - proficient with advanced application functions such as pivot tables, lookups, conditional lists, macros, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings/blue prints
- Demonstrated ability to support both insourcing and outsourcing projects
- Experience sourcing goods internationally, familiar with EU regulations a plus
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturing vendors
- Experience with Work Orders and procurement within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in both a start-up environment and with an established, mature organization is preferred
- APICS certification a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
