POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides operational office support as directed, including internal/external customer interaction, appointment scheduling, patient registration, telephone support, word processing and maintenance of patient files/medical records
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to function independently with minimum supervision.
- Possesses and functions with a high degree of initiative, judgment, confidentiality and interpersonal skills in consistent manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and plan activities to ensure timely completion of tasks, many of which come together simultaneously. Accepts and assumes responsibility successfully.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of department and hospital wide activities.
- Supports and implements quality improvement efforts and assists creating an environment that reflects such support.
- Possesses a high degree of administrative/organization skills that enhance the operation of Surgical Services and Pre-Admission Testing. Provides pertinent information in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Compose correspondence memo, reports, etc. as appropriate. Types, formats and proof read a variety of materials including correspondence, reports, surveys, minutes of meetings, etc. Answers telephone, receives and delivers messages, routes calls and other departments as appropriate.
- Assembles and checks for the completeness of surgical, endoscopy, and procedural charts.
- Takes initiative in handling work situations and procedures; keeping appropriate persons informed as needed.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of how departmental processes are related to all hospital systems and integrates the information appropriately.
- Offers innovative ideas that contribute to meeting departmental and organizational objective.
- Assists staff by serving as a resource.
- Maintains positive communication and professional relationship staff and physicians.
- Responds appropriately to problems and concerns relative to department.
- Reflects the hospital's values and sensitivity to the hospital's ethical and compliance principals in his or her daily activity.
- Performs other administrative duties as required.
- Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Associate Degree Required EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant in a healthcare setting - preferrably in a Rehabilitation setting.
