The Buyer/Planner plans and manages all raw material inventory for a manufacturing site, forecast the necessary purchases, meet targets, and maintain related reporting. This role provides support to quality and manufacturing/engineering as it relates to suppliers and supplier communications.Essential FunctionsLeading the materials planning for the site - including when to buy and how much to buy - in support of the plant production/build schedules and safety stock of all products.Work with current supplier base to ensure on-time delivery of goods/services while maintaining compliance to local, corporate, and industry regulations.Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to the facility, act as primary point of contact for site related issues to these suppliersResponsible for ensuring the purchase and delivery of all materials needed for operation of the plant (raw materials, MRO, facilities, supplies, services, etc.)s.Identify, analyze, and drive major supplier/procurement related cost improvement projects at the manufacturing plant levelCollaborate cross-functionally to achieve all plant goals - including PPV and inventory targetsProvide inventory procurement support to new products that are launching out of the Delran facilitySupport other critical business efforts as required to include plant quality audits and financial PI's.Ensure correct ERP update of transactions by partnering with Finance.Respond to Accounts Payable inquiries to resolve supplier paymentsRepresent Procurement and Supply Chain programs at the plant.Pack and ship small production samples to test labs as neededWork collaboratively to resolve frequent issues while remaining calm and professional and modify procedures as needed. Effective analysis, trouble-shooting and clear communication with broad groups of associates and Management, is criticalContinuously seek and identify improvement opportunitiesProvide projections, maintain version history, track changes and identify variance drivers in an efficient, timely manner.Lead the Supplier Management Committee for the site. Guide the group toward solutions of multi-faceted situations.Enforce all applicable purchasing, procurement, quality and operations policiesRequired Qualifications:Clear Communicator: Strong written, verbal, and listening skills. Able to communicate effectively with external suppliers and internal stakeholders. Able to prepare information for Management. Able to quickly and openly communicate challenges and suggest solutionsOrganized: Demonstrated ability to keep organized with multiple responsibilities and deadlinesStrong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and implement solutions on a strict timeline in a cross functional team environmentDetail oriented - Time management and workload prioritization capabilities are keyTeam Player: Demonstrated ability to collaborate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships across all parts of the businessAdaptable: Comfortable working in ambiguous situations with some guidance from management. Possesses a positive questioning attitude, able and willing to dive into the whyApproachable and professionalBachelor's Degree required3 years' experience in Purchasing or Inventory ForecastingDemonstrated knowledge of forecasting and purchasing practicesMust be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, extracting data across various software and sources such as Power BI, pivot tables, ERP.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with ERP systems and production operations. Related certification.Experience with external suppliers, sourcing new suppliers, negotiating supply agreements.Experience in Medical Device, Medical Supply, or Pharmaceutical Industry.For many roles at BD, employment is contingent upon the Company's receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
