Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Laboratory technicians are involved in a variety of laboratory-based investigations within the resin science areas. They may carry out sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analyzing of a number of sample matrices as part of a scientific team. Technicians provide all the required technical support to enable company to function effectively while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Primary Responsibility

• Performing laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support plant operations in a timely fashion

• Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues.

• Using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs.

• Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks

• Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

• Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.

• Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.

• Completes projects by assisting project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings.

Secondary Responsibility

• Keeping up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability;

• Enhances laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Some college a plus

• 1-2 years' experience in manufacturing laboratory preferred

• Ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment

• Time management skills to work on several different projects at the same time
