Sun Noodle is a manufacturer of fresh, tailor-made ramen noodles, Importer and wholesaler of ramen soups, sauces, and other products. With currently 3 factories; Hawaii, California & New Jersey and 1 more on the way in Europe, Sun Noodle is growing rapidly which creates growth and job security for all our employees. We are in search of a strong R&D associate to use their creative and scientific background to develop new ramen noodle products.

Job Description:

The Research and Development Associate is responsible for leading new/existing product development projects by providing product market research, recipe creation, and production observation skills. Brings key skills and knowledge in new product ideas/concepts and troubleshooting. Able to initiate product and /or processing concepts from idea to final production start-up. Other responsibilities include standardizing raw materials and manufacturing process for multiple factories. Analytical capability, creativity, passion, and presentation skills are essential for this role.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead food service/retail product development projects.
• Research and analyze new/existing materials such as flour, gluten, Kansui, salt related to noodle making to improve the quality of products.
• Research and analyze food market situation, new/trend products, competitors' products for new product development.
• Conduct sensory evaluation and qualify that product are made to Sun Noodle standards.
• Create noodle and soup samples.
• Standardize raw materials and manufacturing process for multiple factories.
• Manage mission critical innovative projects.
• Support cross-functional team and involve in special projects.
• Document standard operating procedure, product information and raw material information.
• Keep current with changes in technologies and regulation for the countries where we do business.
• Identifies and implements creative and practical applications and modifications of ingredients, formulas.
• Creates and maintains written specifications for all new formulas, ingredients, and materials.
• Validates shelf-life parameters are met.
• Studies and analyzes other companies' products and new trends in the market place.

Position Requirements:

• Strong commitment to and support of Sun Noodle values, ethics, goals, and objectives.
• B.S. degree in Food Sciences, Cereal Science, or in Chemical, or Food/Agricultural/Biological Sciences.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Research and Development of foods, preferably in the ramen/noodle industry. Formulating and/or troubleshooting experience is desired.
• Knowledge of the food manufacturing process and the function of ingredients.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control, statistical design of experiments, and data collection and analysis.
• Proven excellent work record with demonstrated high levels of initiative and self-direction.
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize multiple activities simultaneously.
• Proficient in laboratory environment (i.e. chemistry techniques, lab equipment, lab safety)
• Computer skills and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database and other software/applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
