Human Resources Generalist

Total Technology Inc., a growing federal contractor in Cherry Hill, N.J., is expanding their Human Resources department and has an opening for a well-rounded, full time Human Resources Generalist. We are flexible with hours and are currently in a hybrid work arrangement (remote and office).

In this role, our HR Generalist performs human resources-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Employment, Hiring/On-boarding, Performance Management, Personnel Changes, Policy Implementation, and Employment Law Compliance. The HR Generalist manages and administers confidential personnel records for all employees.

What You Will be Doing

  • Handle non-exempt and exempt recruiting from recruitment strategy to on-boarding new hires.
  • Assist with updates of HR policies and procedures.
  • Compliance reporting including FMLA claims, unemployment claims, AAP, EEOC reporting, Vets 4212 reporting, worker's compensation, I-9 processing and records management, HIPAA compliance, etc.
  • Assist with Benefits Administration and Open Enrollments.
  • Assist with Performance Management.
  • Assist in creating training programs using Power Point presentations.
  • Provide general assistance to the HR Manager in all facets of HR as needed.

Qualifications for success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or 10 years of equivalent experience with demonstrated and increasing HR responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of broad HR Generalist experience that includes, Benefits Administration, Employee Relations, Recruitment and On-boarding, Employment Law and Compliance, Affirmative Action Plans and ACA.
  • Ability to manage highly confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Is very proficient with MS Office, PowerPoint, and HRIS computer software.
  • Experience using ADP Work Force Now preferred.
  • Possesses strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Shows compassion and empathy while remaining objective and unbiased.
  • Must have excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
  • Must have the ability to interact and work well with all employees in every level of the organization.
  • Can self-motivate and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience working for a federal contractor is a big plus.
  • Preferred HR Certifications: PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP

Physical Demands and Work Environment-

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This is a typical office environment with HVAC, overhead fluorescent lights and carpeted floors. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers with manual dexterity, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls in the use of computers/keyboards and standard office equipment. The employee is required to sit for long periods, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include visual acuity, discernment of colors and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
