About the Team
The Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Risk Management (ACRM) function is the second line of defense in mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing risks for Citi and its customers in the global marketplace. Citis ACRM team draws on deep AML expertise, strong risk management skills and applicable business knowledge to actively identify, assess, and manage AML risk across Citis clients, products, and geographies. ACRM is an effective and trusted information source to the business on AML laws, regulations, policies, practices and works with other AML partners on the design, development, and refinement of the Citi AML Program. The group is responsible for assessing complex issues, structuring potential solutions, and driving to effective resolution with business stakeholders while providing credible challenge of business products, processes, and systems.
Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS) ACRM works with global/ region/ country AML, Sanctions, and Legal colleagues to provide advice and guidance to the TTS business. Support covers a range of issues including compliance with AML regulatory and legal requirements, Client Due Diligence (CDD), assessment of new products from an AML perspective, review of High-Risk clients and those business activities which may result in reputational/ franchise risk for Citi.
The TTS ACRM Officer is responsible for leading risk identification and mitigation across the products, clients, and processes in place within the TTS business. The role holder will support the development of internal procedures to identify and mitigate money laundering/ terrorist financing risk in coordination with the broader Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team. The overall objective for this role is to utilize established disciplinary knowledge to identify potential weaknesses in business controls and formulate strategic recommendations on the policies, procedures, and practices of the TTS business. The TTS ACRM Officer reports directly to the North America Head of TTS ACRM.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination and execution of targeted risk reviews to assess business sectors, products, transactional flows, or other key criteria and clearly articulate risks observed and required control enhancements.
- Deliver risk assessment results to ACRM Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and facilitate discussions regarding business impact and plans to address areas of concern - support ongoing credible challenge and track results.
- Coordinate across ACRM to develop best practices to adequately manage AML risk identified by the risk assessments, and to align with emerging trends and business practices across the enterprise - capture and monitor control enhancement efforts.
- Provide TTS business with day-to-day AML support on compliance matters pertaining to the NAM region for assigned products/ segments.
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of internal and external reviews of compliance to BSA/ AML regulatory requirements and internal Citi policies with a nexus to the TTS business.
- Utilize information from global regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes, and internal/ external reviews to further identify new key risk areas.
- Analyze comparative data, prepare and present reports related to AML risk assessments, and monitor AML related issues and escalations.
- Develop approaches/action plans to compliance and control issues by weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations.
- Assist in the development and deployment of AML related training for the TTS business as needed.
- Provide guidance and support for cross-functional ad-hoc projects, including leading on project work streams as needed, which arise from time to time out of regulatory or environmental changes.
- 6-10 years of relevant work experience within a medium or large Financial Institution
- 3+ years work experience in AML compliance, risk, or a control-related function
- Sufficient knowledge of the payments and cash management businesses, with a particular focus on risk identification and mitigation within these areas
- Knowledge of AML laws and regulations, including a general and broad understanding of key AML and reputational risks (PEPs, Sanctions, AB&C, etc.) required
- A background in general compliance/legal/audit, and candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of Citi AML policies and procedures, will be considered a plus
- Proven track record of delivering results in a challenging and changing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- CAMS certification preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills

- Excellent judgement and analytical skills with significant attention to detail
- Excellent communications skills, including ability to present detailed analysis and recommendations to business stakeholders in a succinct manner
