Job description
Job Summary:
The role of this position is to conduct analytical activities to support Benjamin Moore's Corporate Laboratories, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Groups, and customers; to develop and establish in-house analytical testing and characterization capabilities for coatings and raw materials.
Reporting the Analytical Lab manager, the scientist will collaborate with other members within the Analytical Group and Product Development Laboratories in basic and applied research, Issue regular analytical project status reports and written reports upon completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform analytical testing on requests from corporate R&D, QA/QC, Regulatory, and manufacturing
* Conduct wet chemistry and instrument analysis of coatings products and raw materials
* Collaborate with R&D laboratories in basic and applied research, provide analytical testing results and
interpretation
* Research on scientific literature and use the information to investigate and develop analytical methodologies
* Work on expanding analytical testing and characterization capabilities
* Draft and issue analytical reports
* Maintain lab equipment
* Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
* Advanced degree, Ph.D preferred with 2-5 years' working experience in analytical chemistry or related field
* Broad knowledge of analytical chemistry, analytical and material characterization methods and
instrumentation
* Hands-on experiences in analytical and material characterization instruments, such as HPLC/MASS, GC/MASS,
UV, FTIR, TEM, SEM, DSC, and GPC.
* Demonstrated abilities to develop analytical methods and validate testing procedures
* Strong instrumentation skills for analytical instrument set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting
* Strong organization skills, detail oriented and highly organized
* Superior written and verbal communication skills
