Overview

As a member of the Analytical Chemistry team, the candidate has a key role to play in support of a wide range of tasks including evaluation and testing of raw materials, R&D samples and customer samples as well as trouble-shooting analysis on samples related to manufacturing issues and customer complaints. The incumbent will develop appropriate analytical methods to support qualification of raw materials and evaluation of new and existing products.

Responsibilities

Develop appropriate analytical methods using chromatographic, spectroscopic, wet chemistry, and other analytical techniques for new and existing products, raw materials, and R&D samples. Perform tests for raw materials, in process products and finished goods to ensure materials meet quality requirements. As project lead, take assigned projects to support internal research and development, coatings, plastics and wood applications, and to evaluate samples for customer projects. Design and execute experiments for trouble-shooting analysis on samples related to manufacture issues and customer complaints. Ensure reliable analytical results generated in a timely fashion by testing accuracy and proper documentation. Prepare protocols, methods, memos, reports and technical data summaries. Adhere to company policies, department health and safety guidelines and ISO Quality Management policies and procedures. Maintain awareness of evolving capabilities in the analytical field. Perform all other duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications

* Master's degree in Chemistry (or related field) with a minimum of six (6) years, or Ph.D. degree with a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience.
* Working knowledge of HPLC (UPLC), GC, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, wet chemistry, and other modern techniques as well as sample preparation techniques preferred.
* Experience with method development and transfer, trouble-shooting analysis and experimental design desired.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
* Proficient with common software, including MS Office.
