Job description

Hudson Crossing Surgery Center has an immediate opening for a full-time OR Unit Clerk, Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Operating Room environment and be familiar with daily operations including, scheduling, pathology, and general infection control practices. Specific job duties include but not limited to:

Under the direction of the Clinical Director:

  • Ensures receipt of accurate messages involving staff, physician or surgical schedule information. Relays information promptly while using good judgment.
  • Communicates relevant information regarding patients to the appropriate personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Prints OR schedules and preference cards for the current day and distributes them appropriately.
  • Coordinates patient flow from Pre-op to OR. Facilitates timeliness of daily surgical schedule.
  • Monitors OR schedule throughout the day, including arrival of patients, to ensure efficient flow of all cases. Communicates with reception area, Pre-Op, surgeon and assistant of any schedule changes in a timely manner.
  • Calls surgeons who have not arrived within 5 minutes of surgical start time and advises managers of outcome.
  • Performs all other duties, including providing support to other departments, as assigned by management
  • Prepares Pathology requisitions and manifests when needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate
  • Uses sound judgment, above average communication skills, ability to work effectively with managers, coworkers, physicians, patients and vendors.
  • Verbal/written communication skills necessary to perform job duties.
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office System-specifically Word, Excel and Online Applications.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity for the management of patient and facility information with great sensitivity.
  • Willingness to work with attention to detail with the realization that errors may have serious consequences.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Must be flexible to work some Saturdays if necessary

Schedule:

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Customer Service: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Computer Skills: 2 years (Preferred)
