Job description

The Laboratory Technician I Contractor in the Materials Center of Excellence ("MatCOE") R&D group will be responsible for conducting testing /experiments; writing technical reports; supporting test request work flow; operation of equipment in the materials characterization and testing labs;; ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles; ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

Project Responsibilities
oLab Organization: Follow and support the workflow process for the MatCOE R&D labs including instrument operation and maintenance.
oProcess Effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely stakeholder engagement and completion of assignments.
oContinuous Learning: Actively seek training to improve skills. Ensure technical lessons are reviewed, learned and disseminated. Actively teach and promote learning.
Leadership
oAccountability: Demonstrate strong and clear accountability for the successful and timely completion of assigned tasks.
oR&D Communication: Hold and encourage frequent formal and informal communication within the team.
oDealing with Ambiguity: Developing agility and action orientation when facing change and uncertainty.
Required Qualifications
oAssociate's Degree in a Technical or Science Field
o0-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
oExperience with polymer characterization / testing instruments and equipment
oTraining in laboratory safety and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
oExperience operating instruments / equipment including INSTRON mechanical tester; TGA; DSC; Rheometers; is preferred.
oGood technical skills and judgment.
oBasic understanding of disciplined product development processes, regulatory and quality requirements.
oGood communication skills (written and verbal)
oStrong fit with BD values.
oExperience with basic statistical analysis and software (e.g. Minitab) preferred
oProficient in MS Office / Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
