Job Summary:

This is a key technical position in the polymer research and development team. The role of this position is to develop new and next generation polymers for coatings applications. The job require a high degree of analysis, innovation and creative problem solving, and collolabration with a team of high calibre scientists. The position offers a career opportunity for the senior scientist to grow into higher technical or managerial roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Search new polymer and coatings technologies, capture technology trends and developments in broad industries, identify the technologies for R&D teams
  • Explore and prove feasibility of novel polymer chemistries
  • Plan, develop, and implement scientifically designed experiments from feasibility to commercialization
  • Monitor and supervise all stages of product development, from lab to production scale up batches
  • Collaborate with Procurement for identify and evaluate new and alternate materials
  • Maintain understanding of the competitive and supplier IP landscapes, analyze industry trends and emerging technologies, identify Intellectual property potentials
  • Manage and train junior chemists

Required Skills:

  • Ph.D. in polymer or material science with 5+ years of working experience in polymer development and commercialization
  • Expertise in emulsion polymers and knowledge in waterborne polymers
  • Ability to prove and develop commercial products from concepts
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of working independently and driving projects to completion
  • Capable of managing complex and multiple projects, prioritizing, and meeting timelines
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, using scientific and analytical tools in developing polymers
  • Strong organization skills, detail oriented and highly organized,
  • Must possess outstanding communication skills in both oral and written, ability to communicate clearly and candidly the scientific concepts, project status, effectively fostering collaborative relationships at all organizational levels
