Experis, a ManpowerGroup company has an exciting contract opportunity for a Downstream Processing Scientist - I (Assistant). This position is a 12-month contract for one of our key clients, a big Healthcare company.

Position: Downstream Processing Scientist - I (Assistant)

Location: Kenilworth, NJ 07033

Duration: 12 Months

Description:

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field. Would also consider Master's degree candidate and a recent PHD. Required Skills
  • Basic understanding of biochemical/biophysical properties of proteins and purification unit operations (chromatography and filtration); ability to work on teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Electronic lab notebook (ELN)/DOE software is a plus. Preferred Skills:
  • Lab based research experience; familiarity with AKTA purification systems (Explorer, Avant, Pilot, etc.); experience with monoclonal antibody purification
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivated, adaptable, and displays a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting lab scale chromatography, filtration studies for purification of therapeutic proteins.
  • Collect and submit samples for the analytical testing.
  • The candidate will also be responsible for running HPLC and UV-based analytical characterization to support their studies.
  • Rigorous documentation of data in electronic lab notebooks is a requirement.
  • Additional responsibilities may also include support of therapeutic protein deliveries requiring purification through all necessary filtration and chromatography unit operations.
  • The candidate will work in teams of 2-3 for typical activities.
