Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Director, Communication & Public Affairs for its Global Supply Chain and Enterprise Functions Communications Team. The director can be based in the New York/New Jersey area, Washington, D.C. and potentially other locations on the east coast of the U.S.

Position Summary
The Director will develop and execute strategies to reach key audiences critical to advancing priorities of Johnson & Johnson Global Supply Chain and enterprise functions. S/he will work collaboratively with Johnson & Johnson government affairs, media relations, supply chain communications to expand, elevate and protect the reputation of our Global Supply Chain as a driver of Johnson & Johnson growth through operational excellence and dynamic innovation. S/he will utilize benchmarking and research to monitor and develop insights; build a cohesive narrative that aligns across key drivers, including resilience, sustainability/transparency and quality; vet reporter inquiries on topics related to supply chain and enterprise functions; lead development of reactive message maps on key issues; manage agency partners on proactive and issues related communications; review external content including social media posts; and provide strategic counsel to business, functional and communications leaders. This role requires 15-20% domestic and/or international travel.
Responsibilities
Business and Influence Network
- Build strong organizational, functional and enterprise-wide relationships with leaders and stakeholders within Supply Chain, Global Corporate Affairs, Government Affairs, Issues Management and the Johnson & Johnson enterprise for alignment in service of JJSC business and operational needs
- Serve as a member of the leadership team of the Global Supply Chain, Quality & Sustainability Communication team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure integration of strategic priorities and narratives from sectors, regions and functions
- Collaborate with colleagues and external consultants to build and implement campaigns to advance Global Supply Chain business priorities - integrating traditional and digital media, social media, intranet and potentially other channels.
- Collaborate with government affairs and communications leadership to help shape backgrounders, briefing documents and position statements for use in platform and speaking engagements for enterprise related activations connected to critical topics related to supply chain and enterprise functions of Johnson & Johnson
- Work with sector communication colleagues to help shape, develop and execute an external engagement strategy (speaking engagements, media opportunities, etc.) for the Supply Chain Leadership Team that aligns with enterprise priorities and narratives
- Partner closely with Johnson & Johnson media relations and government affairs to drive awareness and alignment on key areas of focus
- Manage media inquiries and opportunities, and develop a centralized resource for responsive statements
- Define and evolve core narratives underpinning strategic priorities of the business to manage proactive and reactive components of core areas of focus including resilience, sustainability/transparency and quality
- Utilize Global Reputation Information System (GRIS) data, benchmarking and research to uncover and advance compelling insights about share of voice and aspects of innovation, quality, sustainability and other areas that drive Johnson & Johnson reputation with various stakeholders
- Implement targeted digital and social media activations as a key component of external amplification campaigns.
- Proactively monitor media, policy and social media landscape collaborating with colleagues to build cohesive strategies to advance our commitment to operational excellence and customer-focused growth.
- Lead and drive performance of external consultants and agency partners.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate and external communication or related field
- Experience as a strategic advisor to executive leaders
- Key problem-solving skills in developing communication strategies and actions
- Experience working in a global function
- Experience working in a matrix environment
- Requires high degree of independent judgment and decision making
- Up to 15% domestic and international travel required (pandemic permitting)
