Job description

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Analyst, Data Management & Governance to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Summary

The Analyst, Data Management and Governance will play an important role in ensuring data quality, integrity and availability that supports data standards for the organization. The Analyst will specialize in identifying new data quality concerns, monitoring current data quality checks to ensure data integrity and availability necessary to meeting our business needs.

As part of the Data Management and Governance team this role requires a high degree of collaboration with our key business and IT partners working in tandem with Business Intelligence and other Data & Analytics teams.

The position requires ability to perform data queries, working with large data sets, and analyze the results.

This position will be knowledgeable on reporting data, reporting data structure, data feeds (inbound/outbound), intermediate / staging tables, various data sources, and reporting tools.

The position is responsible for implementing and maintaining data standards, business glossaries / data dictionaries to support data governance.

Responsibilities

1. Data Quality and Validation - Utilize various methods to extract data from data environments and source systems to perform ad-hoc analysis and data reconciliations. Analyze data, identify discrepancies document and communicate findings. Includes providing data for ad-hoc data requests.

2. Partner with Data IT - On improvements with data validation, data management (data definition, data mapping, data lineage), reference data management (channel mapping, rate plans, market segments), participate in project's UAT supporting test cases and validations.

3. Partner with Production Support - On prioritization of production issues / maintenance backlog impacting data for quality and availability. Ensuring KPIs and SLA's are being met.

4. Partner with Business Intelligence, Analytic and Other Business teams - to provide guidance and support for data quality.

5. Data Management - Implementing and maintaining data standards, business glossaries / data dictionaries to support data governance for various end user groups.

6. Other Ad-hoc Data Related requests -, facilitate licenses needed with DB team, answer data related questions.

The Analyst of Data Management and Governance will support the growth of data quality and integrity that are vital to the success of the organization.

Abilities/Key Competencies/Skills

• Candidate must have data analytics experience with an acute attention to detail.
• Candidate must have an understanding of data landscape, data storage, and data flow concepts.
• Ability to work with large data sets and knowledge of data sources.
• Candidate must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with a strong understanding of advanced functionality.
• Must have a basic understanding of IT concepts and terms and be able to communicate with various IT associates at all levels regarding business requirements and needs.
• Must be able to show initiative in job performance, including being proactive in identifying opportunity and risk.
• Candidate must have experience with and be comfortable as an end-user using business intelligence tools to pull data and reports.
• Strong organizational and time management skills in order to manage. Strong ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Able to convey information and ideas clearly; use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data.
• Show strong Project Management capabilities in order to manage daily operations.
• Self-starter, well organized, extremely detail-oriented and an assertive team player, willing to take ownership of responsibilities, and possess a high level of positive energy and drive.
• Ability to collaborate with peers effectively.
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written).
• R/Python knowledge a plus.

Experience/Certificates/Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics/Applied Statistics, Economics, Finance, Data, Analytics, Strategy or closely related field;
• 1 - 3 years of experience in a related field/position
• SQL - Oracle, Postgres, and or Redshift (AWS)
• Experience with R/Python knowledge a plus
• Experience in the hotel industry or travel industry a plus.

Reporting Structure

This role will report directly to the Senior Director, Data Management and Governance.
