Business Intelligence (MicroStrategy) Developer responsible for creating and supporting reporting and analytics solutions for Bank of America's Global Procurement organization. Responsibilities include liaising with the business to learn and understand business concepts and offer the best possible reporting solution leveraging the existing reporting tool set, MicroStrategy. The candidate will be responsible for working with business analysts to collect business requirements, suggesting reporting options, designing and developing reporting solutions, and supporting testing. Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and apply business concepts to Business Intelligence is mandatory. The candidate must be comfortable participating in requirement gathering and design discussions, and working proactively with team members to deliver for the business. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting reporting issues and responding to business inquiries into reporting functionality.
Required Skillset:
- Minimum 3 years of MicroStrategy Report Development and Architect experience utilizing complex metrics, dashboards, cubes, drilling, Dossier, OLAP Services, and Distribution Services. Must have hands-on experience as creating both application and schema objects in MicroStrategy.
- Minimum of 3 years of general SQL experience. Must have hands-on SQL experience and be able to read and write SQL to develop free-form reporting solutions as needed.
- Understanding of dimensional modeling concepts and their application in a MicroStrategy reporting environment.
- Experience liaising with business analysts in translating business requirements into reporting solutions
- Experience supporting reporting solutions throughout the full development lifecycle (end to end), from requirements gathering, reporting design, report build out, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Understanding of reporting concepts including historical reporting (e.g. snapshot tables and type-2 dimensions), trending, aggregation, transformations, and dashboarding best practices.
- Understanding of how Administrative tasks in MicroStrategy impact report development (caching, security filters, VLDB Settings, Object Manager, Enterprise Manager, Command Manager, System Manager) and how to utilize these tools in support of report development.
- Ability to partner with other developers and BI architects to complete complex projects in a team-focused environment.
- Ability to work in an environment with dynamic priorities.
- Experience in performance tuning long-running reports.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with business partners, and various technology teams.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Strong problem solving skills and analytical skills.
- Ability to self-manage responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Experience in an agile-development environment is preferred
