Job Description
- This position is a shared service for the commercial, development and OPCJ (Japan) areas of the pharmaceutical business referred to as OAPI, OPDC, and OPCJ respectively.
- This position will be responsible for market research, business intelligence, and select business analytics for OAPI and as needed for OPDC and OPCJ as part of the Patient Branding Strategy Department. It will support one or more CNS (or Cardio-Renal) brands or assets in development. This role reports to the Team Lead, Customer Insights and Business Analytics as part of the functional team.
- The Director in this role will be expected to conduct actionable market research that will have a positive impact on brand performance and optimize strategic decision making by marketing and sales leadership.
- The main client in this role is the OAPI CNS Business and other brand teams (in-line and in-development).
- The position requires oversight regarding the design, execution, and/or management of market research projects, direct communication and management of vendors for primary and secondary market research projects in the US market (and international markets, as needed).
- The position also requires strengths in business analytics as well as leadership and collaboration with marketing and sales partners.
- The person in this position will be part of the OAPI core team and will be interacting directly with OAPI senior leadership team and serve as their point person for the assigned brands/assets.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Self-starter than will proactively take ownership of building internal relationships and learning the Otsuka culture
- Comfortable working in an ever-evolving environment
- Responsible for managing the market research budget on the brand - Proven track record of applying market research findings to make a positive impact on brand performance
- Oversee and deliver Qualitative and Quantitative Primary Market Research
- Experience working with Secondary Market Research Data (e.g. IMS, WK: Sales and patient databases)
- Proven experience and expertise integrating Primary and Secondary data into business analytics
- Build knowledge on new methods on market research and use of big data in business
- Lead special projects as required by the needs of the business
- Represent the function in different business meetings both domestically and globally (e.g. Business Performance GBT, Senior Management Deep Dive Sessions, and Strategic Planning Sessions)
- Represent the Otsuka analytics function in interactions with current and potential partners
- Proven knowledge of the clinical development process and life-cycle from early stage through product launch.
- Affinity for scientific information, as well as working knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge in managing overseas market research projects from the USA - Strong, game-changing analytical skills
- Ability to interpret scientific data
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate with marketing/sales partners
- Experience managing and developing vendor relations so that the vendor can best contribute to Otsuka's future success
- Strong team player and leadership skills
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a marketing sciences/business analysis role in the pharmaceutical industry, including a minimum of 7 years of market research experience.
- Bachelor's degree
- MBA/Graduate education a plus
