Job description
The legal group at Samsung SDS America is looking for a diligent and proactive paralegal to closely collaborate with our attorneys and serve as the driving force behind the Company's legal operations. This highly visible role requires a dependable, organized team player capable of managing competing deadlines while supporting colleagues in the legal group as needed. You have experience managing contracts, take a practical, holistic approach to problem solving, and possess an intellectual curiosity regarding emerging technologies and data privacy and security issues.
Backed by extensive expertise across industries and capabilities acquired from managing Samsung IT systems for 30 years, Samsung SDS has successfully converted traditional data center infrastructure to a cloud environment to fit the business objectives and policies of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage contract review requests and the collection and organization of contract data.
- Manage and improve internal legal guidelines, such as process outlines, contracting and signature policies, and template libraries.
- Serve as the in-house subject matter expert and primary point of contact for the company's global legal system.
- Update contract templates as required, draft basic transaction documents (such as amendments), and negotiate contracts for the sale and resale of technology products and services to other companies in the Samsung Group.
- Negotiate and approve nondisclosure agreements in accordance with legal group guidelines.
- Track intellectual property renewals, assist our artificial intelligence team in San Jose with responding to requests from outside patent and trademark counsel, and maintain all related documents.
- Assist with maintaining and reviewing human resources policies and coordinate with our human resources team as required to track compliance training.
- Work closely with the procurement team to manage all staffing agency contracts, statements of work, and invoices for the legal department.
- Manage the legal department's payables, including invoices for outside legal services, and handle all budget requests with the assistance of the accounting and finance teams.
- Assist with corporate governance, including by maintaining corporate records and drafting resolutions and consents.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys in the legal department as required and assist with tracking legal department tasks and activities.
- Collect, maintain, and organize executed contracts.
- Handle increasing responsibilities over time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; additional qualifications in law or project management are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, contract administrator or relevant role.
- Knowledge of legal requirements involved with IT contracts.
- Keen attention to detail, with an ability to spot errors.
- Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Proficient in technology, especially in MS suite.
- Ability to multi-task while producing high-quality work.
- Desire and ability to quickly learn new skills.
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Comfort interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- New Jersey Notary Public or willingness to become one.
