The ESG Technical Business Development Director NAM is in charge of growing the ESG business of SGS in North America (US and CA) and will participate in broad-range of activities including strategy definition, business and product development, ESG resources recruitment, sales and marketing support, training (both internal and external) and project management.

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic plan to support the growth and development of SGS ESG services in NAM, in line with the global SGS ESG strategy.
  • Define and execute the roadmap to convert strategy into action with key milestones, timelines, and owners to drive business expansion
  • Determine the resource requirements (technical, commercial, and operational) to grow the business. Support the recruitment of ESG experts to support the growth
  • Provide technical support to sales teams, assisting with proposal-writing and sales presentations where required
  • Participate in marketing-led exercises to define and develop sector interventions
  • Act as an external champion for our ESG services, using appropriate social media content to promote SGS in this sector and developing wide-ranging networks throughout the ESG community, and participating in conferences and other industry events
  • Keep up with the latest ESG guidelines and developments in NAM and globally
  • Ensure projects are delivered successfully and participate in project delivery
  • Travels up to 20% of the time. Depending on client's locations and scope of work


Qualifications

  • Relevant University Degree (e.g: Sustainability, Social, Environmental, Finance).
  • Relevant post-graduate technical or business qualification is a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in delivering ESG related services.
  • Experience in finance sector is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Solid knowledge of the regional regulatory environment related to ESG
  • Experience with audit/verification/assurance activities
  • Ability to train internal or external trainees
  • Ability to speak at conferences
  • Ability to draft procedures/checklists and write/review Reports
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, consultants and clients
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Results driven
In the course of employment, you will be required to travel to and/or work at a client site. The company requires employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel commercially and many clients require visitors performing work at their locations to be vaccinated.
