Job description

The Space Planning Manager will coordinate/direct all micro space planning, including Planograms, Merchandise Presentation standards/execution, Web publishing, space automation/optimization, and planogram level analytics and performance measurements. The Space Planning Manager will support initiatives including in-store collateral placement, improved customer experience in stores, merch presentation standards execution across all planograms, and overarching project management with a heavy focus on driving sales results. This role will be accountable for partnering with offshore partners to effectively deliver high quality planograms, analyses, process improvements, automations, and visualizations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functional Leadership:

  • Lead team in focus on sales, inventory and profit objectives as it relates to developing, analyzing, and maintaining micro space rules and guidelines down to planogram space management rules, guidelines and standards.

  • Provide reporting and recommendations based upon this analysis for the purpose of making business decisions to drive results and meet company goals.

  • Develop and create deep analytical analysis using Space Planning tools, looking for opportunities to develop customer centric approaches to the merchandise planograms; consistently performs highly detailed work with accuracy and precision.

  • Analyzes performance metrics, such as days of supply, margin, and sales and provide recommendations that identify and solve for potential opportunities to improve productivity of space to the Merchandising department.

  • Responsible for store support in regard to planograms; acts with a strong sense of urgency to anticipate customer's needs; takes responsibility to finding lasting solutions to difficult problems. Act as a champion and advocate for the stores in collaboration with all departments.

Process Flow and Project Management:

  • Manage the creation and updates of all versions of planograms to ensure compliance with all applicable merchandising standards, product assortments, and inventory and sales goals. Planogram execution must be aligned with the overall space merchandising strategies of the organization's sales and inventory goals.

  • Provide status reporting against POG schedule on a regular basis to inform Merchandising leaders about current challenges faced in process.

  • Develop and implement quality control measures for merchandise planograms, ensuring accuracy of sku assignments, compliance with strategic vision and/or corporate standards, emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail, and an inquisitive mindset.

  • Maintain product data integrity for all items as it relates to planogram process and develop exception reporting to validate integrity.

  • Partner to develop fixture needs to better utilize space constraints.

Supervising and Developing Talent:

  • Define clear plans to communicate expectations to team.

  • Demonstrate a flexible leadership style to foster team member engagement including recognition.

  • Manage execution responsibilities and workload of direct reports to achieve department deliverables on time and with quality.

  • Provide direct reports with timely and regular feedback to support teammate development/ growth in role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Business or related field

  • 4-6 years of related work experience, including project management, retail operations, and visual merchandising.

  • At least 4 years of experience in Space Planning and/or Category Management software. Knowledge of JDA Floor Planning is a bonus.

  • Strong command of Space Planning and web publishing software to create and report on space to sales, space-planning, and resulting in better product placement and shopper-based decisions.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word

  • Experience in retails development process for planograms and working through the entire line review process.
