Job Details

Expectations and Responsibilities:
• Analyze projects based on their size, location, type, competition, customers involved, architects, owners, manpower requirements, and the anticipated concrete construction start date.
• Determine project assignments to estimators based on their experience, relationships with customers, knowledge of specific projects, and availability of sufficient time to complete the estimate. Individual will also balance the work burden of estimators and/or project engineers.
• Execute and distribute a bid calendar showing projects, bid dates and assigned estimators.
• Determine project markups based on anticipated start date, customers, type of work, and the overall need for the work.
• Accomplishes department objectives by managing staff, planning and the evaluation of activities, contributions, and overall performance.
• Ensure that the tracking of bid projects is up to date and accurately illustrates which contractor was awarded the project and our status with the competition.
• Strengthen past relationships and develop new relationships with owners, architects, engineers, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Perform detailed and accurate quantity surveys for concrete materials and accessories.
• Compute cost factors, production rates, crew size requirements, and equipment needs to prepare estimates for the bidding process.
• Consult with customers, vendors, subcontractors, or other individuals to resolve any construction issues prior to the bid.
• Procure quotes from vendors and subcontractors for project specific labor requirements and/or materials.
• Setup and conduct an estimator to project manager handoff meeting transferring the necessary project information to the project manager.
• Individual must be capable of effectively communicating in English. Spanish as a second language may prove beneficial, dependent on the market in which the individual is performing estimates.
• Review estimates prepared by assigned estimators to evaluate project duration, labor requirements, equipment, material, subcontractors, and other costs.
• Develop and document monthly backlog tracking and implement a strategy to consistently maintain sufficient backlog.
• Assist with and or create marketing initiatives designed to further strengthen or develop new professional, collaborative relationships.
