Summary Description
Performs various member transactions; receiving payments, disbursing funds, posting deposits, providing account balances and related activities. Sells travel money cards, cashier's checks, money orders and cross-sells other services.
Essential Duties
* Perform routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments/disbursements, transfers and check cashing
* Receive share deposits and loan payments, and enters data into in-house computer system
* Balance cash drawer, checks and miscellaneous items on a daily basis
* Receive payments for mortgage, installment and share secured loans, ensuring that payments equal the amount due and that all late charges, if applicable, are collected
* Provide members with the forms necessary to transact business at the credit union
* Examine checks for endorsement/s, negotiability and verify funds for checks placed on hold
* Cross-sell all services offered by the Credit Union
* Respond to members' request, problems and complaints, and/or directs them to the proper person for specific information and assistance
* Provide routine information on credit union services or policies, including eligibility for membership, type of accounts, insurance offered on loans, interest rates, current dividend rates, branch locations, office hours and telephone numbers
* Provide members with account status, including current balances and loan pay-off amounts
* Substitute at other branch offices, if needed
* Assist with daily balancing of negotiable items
* May encode and prepare recap sheet for items accepted at different branch offices
* Complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and robbery procedures
* Assist in any other related duties as directed by the Teller Supervisor or chain-of-command thereof
Requirements
Education/Experience
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* One (1) year financial institution cash handling experience or two (2) years non-financial institution cash handling experience
* One (1) year customer service experience, financial institution preferred, or two (2) years non-financial institution customer service experience
Tests/Certificates/Licenses
* Simulated skills assessment test may be administered

* Personal computer knowledge; skills in using Word and Excel
* Ability to effectively piece count currency
* Excellent verbal and/or written communication skills (in-person and/or by telephone)
