Job Title: Senior Housing Specialist
Department: Housing

Location: Various Site
Summary: Coordinates the day to day operations of various supportive services programs to identify appropriate housing for homeless individuals and families throughout Westchester County. Proof of COVID-19 vaccine required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with supervisor to achieve various programs goals.
- Responsible for supervising the housing specialist. Conduct regular supervision and staff evaluations. Oversees staff work performance and HMIS Data. Identify program needs and makes recommendations.
- Responsible for maintain log records, weekly and monthly outcomes report database of available housing.
- Works towards identifying new housing opportunities for clients through ongoing networks and identifies available units for various programs within the agency.
- Attends weekly cross departments meetings and others as required. Create and maintain ongoing communication, both verbal and written, between all parties involved (shelters, DSS Housing Department, program case managers, clients, landlords and collaborating agencies, etc.)
- Ensures landlords and management companies are in compliance with established housing laws and building codes. Responsible for obtaining and reviewing lease agreements to ensure housing laws compliance. Knowledge of tenant and landlords' rights.
- Responsible for ensuring documentation meets contracted requirements. Oversees compliance with ongoing program requirements, including but not limited to budgeting, initial and lease renewals, HQS inspections and housing specialist documentation. Ensures that all of the HUD documentation is submitted with leases packets.
- Promotes educated and accurate information to realtors, landlords and property management entities. Apply knowledge of residential lease contracts, conduct HQS Inspections, research and compares rental market prices. Provides proactive follow up with landlords, property management, clients, shelter and program staff.
- Requires the completion of various programmatic time sheets and activity log along with maintaining working calendar updated. Revised and sign staff time sheets.
- Provides crisis intervention and stabilization as needed. May required some after-hours follow-up to emergency situations or to meet with landlord and realtor.
- Performs all other related tasks as assigned by Director.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree required or a Master in Public Administration or related field preferred. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. Ability to work some evenings, attend open houses during afterhours and on weekends as needed. Ability to follow up and maintained professional relationships with realtors, landlords and in and outside partners. Experience in community outreach and group leadership. Ability to negotiate on behalf of clients and programs. Advance knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Google Docs. Must own a car and valid NYS driver's license required.
