Job description


The Williamsburg Hotel is an independent lifestyle boutique hotel looking for a Human Resources Manager to manage all functions of the Human Resources department. The bulk of the role will involve recruiting and employee relations as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and operating procedures, but there is great opportunity for developing and refining systems.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensure that Human Resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures

• Maintain hard copies of employees' records, process documents related to new hire, change of status, and termination events across all related systems

• Coordinate all new hire onboarding related to the scheduling and preparation of new hire material

• Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

• Assist new employees with filling out new hire packets and tax paperwork such as W-4, IT- 2104, I-9, etc.

• Enter new hire information in Paychex

• Recruitment-sourcing, post jobs on websites, schedule interviews with department heads and assist Hotel Manager with preparing offer letters

• Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation and employee recognition

• Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal, state, and local requirements and maintaining records

• Manage and resolve employee relations issues and conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations

• Train managers to coach and discipline employees, and counsel employees and supervisors

• Process unemployment and workers compensation claims

• Perform various administrative duties

• Approachable and appropriate behavior when interacting with employees at all levels in a quick paced environment

• Ensure privacy and confidentiality of all employees

• Handle confidential matters with discretion

• Perform other duties as requested by management
