Job description

Benderson Development seeks an internal general liability/bodily injury Claims Adjuster. The position will require the candidate to investigate bodily injury or property damage claims asserted against the company and recover costs associated with damage done to company property.

Duties will include the initial set up of new claims, investigation of claims to determine cause, scope and extent of damages, assessment of potential liability and/or possible subrogation/tender opportunities and the management of the claim through settlement/closure. The position will require taking statements from witnesses/claimants, conducting scene inspections, review of relevant medical records and property damage estimates, and documentation of all details of the investigation. There will be a special focus on the review of indemnification and insurance provisions in tenant and contractor agreements in order to properly pursue risk transfer opportunities. The position will also collaborate with other departments within the company including property management, construction and insurance, in order to protect the company from potential risks and liabilities.

Requirements for the position include experience in the adjustment of bodily injury and property damage claims. Attention to detail, effective communication, negotiation, and computer skills are required. The candidate must have a valid driver's license. Additionally, the candidate must have a New York State claims adjuster license.
