Key Accountabilities

Brookfield is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong analytical experience to work on the Alternatives Real Estate Portfolio Management team. This position will support the Portfolio Management team in overseeing all investments and assist with analysis that drives strategic decision making.

As a member of the Portfolio Management team, the analyst will be involved in all aspects of portfolio management financial analysis, supporting the preparation and maintenance of a wide array of analytical reporting, modelling and presentations. This dynamic position requires extensive collaboration across various business units across Brookfield, including Asset Management, Investments, Investor Relations and Finance and Operation teams within BPG and at the portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed review of quarterly IFRS/ICA financials and results presentations prepared by portfolio company teams across multiple investments and sectors (Senior Living, Manufactured Housing, Triple Net Lease); ensure correct accounting treatment of significant / complex transactions
  • Perform detailed review of quarterly valuations and investment performance track record returns; maintain valuation policies across the investment portfolio
  • Assist in reviewing and/or preparing board material sector level presentations
  • Perform variance analysis of monthly results to budget/forecast assumptions and review monthly operational results with portfolio company teams
  • Monitor liquidity needs across investment portfolio and assist in coordinating funding capital calls and distributions
  • Support the annual 5-year business planning / quarterly forecast processes
  • Assist in investor relation requests (e.g. investor reports, case studies, ad hoc requests)
  • Participate in strategic projects to maximize value creation (business process improvements, ESG initiatives, data analytics etc.)
  • Monitor ongoing debt compliance requirements
  • Assist in ad-hoc audit requests from external/internal auditors
Candidate Profile
  • CPA with Big 4 public accounting experience
  • IFRS and/or US GAAP Investment Company Accounting knowledge
  • Strong excel modeling and powerpoint skills
  • Sharp written and verbal presentation abilities
  • Analytical thinker with high attention to details
  • Finance, real estate or business degree
  • Adaptive nature with ability to multi-task across multiple portfolio company teams and deadlines
  • Ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
