We work with key players and disruptors worldwide who are looking to participate in the fast-changing, highly competitive M&A market for these assets. Our clients can be owner managers of consulting, tech-enabled and SaaS firms looking to realise value through an equity event - for whom we are sell-side advisors; or - our clients on the buyside - the corporates and financial sponsors looking to grow inorganically and invest in these firms to generate outsize returns.


The successful candidate will manage Equiteq's buyside M&A origination mandates for strategic acquirers and private equity firms. You will lead project teams responsible for identification and early-stage qualification of M&A targets and take ownership of weekly client deliverables.


You will also be responsible for engaging, on behalf of our clients, with target firms to further qualify them for fit and actionability as well as progressing them towards a transaction when appropriate.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate a structured approach to project management as well as people management skills needed to motivate project teams to drive successful outcomes for clients. A strong appreciation of the entrepreneurial mindset and exceptional communication capabilities will also be essential to succeed in the role. An interest in technology, innovation and software will also be invaluable.


The flexibility, autonomy and huge potential of the role for impact both internally and externally means this role will suit someone with a very high level of ambition and drive. They will also have capability and interest in working with the corporate development sponsors and private equity investment directors that are our clients on these engagements - as well as with the entrepreneurs who have built the target businesses and may now be looking to realize value.

Skills and experience required:


  • Proven commercial acumen
  • Previous experience in corporate finance and/or management consulting with a firm understanding of M&A finance, criteria and processes
  • Proven business development capability
  • Proven project and team management skills
  • Evidence of entrepreneurialism and intellectual agility
  • Proven client management and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrable experience related to innovation
  • Credibility as a trusted advisor
  • Honest & straightforward approach
