Position Summary

Nevis Laboratories is searching for a part-time Business Officer to implement and execute the financial practices and procedures for the NSF Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction (MREFC) project. The Officer will also assist with sponsored project financial reporting to the project management team.

The MREFC is an NSF grant awarded over 6-7 years which includes over 30 sub-awards. The Business Officer will build the infrastructure needed to compliantly manage this project. The Business Officer will create budgets and templates that will be used to consolidate data from the 30 sub-award partners and track spending limits on the project.

Nevis Laboratories is located in Irvington, NY, approximately 20 miles north of Columbia's main campus.

This is a five-year, grant-funded position with the possibility of extension if additional funds are secured.

Responsibilities

* The business officer will build and maintain a reporting system to reflect the financial data from over 30 sub-awards related to the MREFC project. The system will be used to provide accurate and on-time routine, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for the lab and its projects to various agencies including governmental regulators. 30%
* The business officer will act as liaison to sub-award institutions and will ensure compliant and accurate financial information is provided to reporting agencies. 30%
* The incumbent will advise PI on specific spending status and assist with resolving financial discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders. 10%
* The business officer will ensure all expenses for the MREFC are processed based on the terms of the awards and assist with the year-end closing process as well as the CU budgeting process. 25%
* Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required
* 2 years related experience

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with Google Suite

Other Requirements

* Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, etc.)

* Strong organizational skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Excellent attention to detail
